Billy Sisco
Billy Sisco, 69, of Pea Ridge died May 2, 1991, at his home. He was born Oct. 18, 1921, at Delmar to William and LaVonia Sims Sisco.
He was a veteran of World War II, where he was a machinist mate first class in the U.S. Navy.
He graduated from Worsham College of Mortuary Science in Chicago in 1947. He worked for Benton Casket Co. of Fordyce before moving to Pea Ridge in 1959 when he purchased the Miller Funeral Home. He retired in 1987 after selling the funeral home to his son-in-law and daughter.
He was a member of the Northwest Arkansas Funeral Directors Association; Kiwanis Club; Chamber of Commerce; Goat Association of Northwest Arkansas; a 30-year member of the Pea Ridge Masonic Lodge #119; Pea Ridge Fire Department; a licensed ham radio operator; an EMT for the volunteer ambulance service of Pea Ridge; and operated the ambulance service until 1980 when the Pea Ridge Fire Department assumed operational responsiility of the service.
In 1990 he received the Eva Patterson Pioneer Spirit Award from the Chamber of Commerce for long term volunteerism in community projects.
Survivors include his wife, Hazel, of the home; one daughter, Janet Spivey of Pea Ridge; one step-son, Jimmy Owens of Berryville; two stepdaughters, Sue Quick of Reeds Spring, Mo., and Pam Webb of Berryville; one brother, Russell Sisco of Marshall; three sisters, Lucy Leach of Springdale; Christine Collins of San Antonio, Texas, and Aldine Gibbs of Cape Coral, Fla.; and ten grandchildren.
The funeral is set for 2 p.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church of Pea Ridge with the Rev. Stanton Cram officiating. Burial is to be in the Pea Ridge Cemetery with Masonic graveside rites by the Pea Ridge Lodge #119. Arrangements are under the direction of Sisco Funeral Home of Pea Ridge. Friends may call at the funeral home from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. today.
