GARFIELD — Essie Irene Sisco, 89, of Garfield died Thursday, May 12, at her home. She was born May 31, 1921, at Success, Ark., to William Issac Carmickle and Nora Edna Sago Carmickle. She moved to the area from Illinois in 1972 to make her home. She was a homemaker, enjoyed cooking, reading, quilting and church activities. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Garfield and is preceded in death by her parents; five brothers Melvin, Bob, Marion, Ike, and Charles Carmickle; two sisters, Bulah Knowlton and Opal Armstrong and one grandson, Brion Cray.

Survivors are her husband of 74 years, Ted Sisco of the home, who she married March 24, 1937; two daughters, Ann Gowin and Bob of Jerseyville, Ill., and Viola Cray and Ray of Garfield; five grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

Service is set for Tuesday, May 17, 10 a..m. at Sisco Funeral Home in Pea Ridge with Bobby Vaughn officiating. Visitation is set for Monday, May 16, 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Ruddick Cemetery in Garfield.
