LOWELL — Buster Nelson Harrell Sr., 79, of Lowell, passed on Oct. 14, 2008. He was born Feb. 16, 1929, in Tulsa, Okla., to Purcey and Antionetta Harrell.

Buster started roofing at age 17 and by age 47, he started his own roofing business, Buster Harrell Roofing, and retired after 25 years at age 72.

Buster was a member of Rogers Free Will Baptist and a previous member of Phillips Chapel in Springdale. Buster was a member of the Gideon's and also a deacon at his church.

Survivors include his wife, Madeline J. Harrell, to whom he was married Dec. 31, 1974; daughter, Sharon Garrison and Randy of Oklahoma; daughter, Patricia Dacanay of Oklahoma; son, Buster Harrell Jr. and Charlotte of Arkansas; son, Edward Harrell of Arkansas; stepson, Ron Hodge and sandy of Arkansas; stepson, Robert Potts and Gail of Washington; stepson, Edward Potts of Arkansas; stepson, Tom Potts and Mary of Arkansas; stepson, Wayne Potts and Janet of Arkansas; brother, Clarence (Tiny Bill) Harrell and Louie of Oklahoma; brother, Roy Harrell and Glenda of Oklahoma; sister, Frances and Rollie Tesh of Texas; sister, Maggie and Dale Rorick of Oklahoma; brother, Clifford Harrell of Oklahoma; sister, Mary Hale of Florida; 20 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren. Buster had many friends and a special friend, Bill Duhaime and daughter Jenna of Arkansas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Janet Streetvale and Ailene Rogers, brother, Edward Harrell.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Oct. 16, at Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home in Springdale.

Pallbearers will be Amos McGarrah, Alfonso Dacany, Edward Harrell Jr., Daniel Hodge, James Potts, Billy Harrell.

Honorary pallbearers will be Fritz McGarrah, Richard Thornburg, Buster Harrell III, David Hodge, Kenny Mangel, Michael Potts, Jacob Potts and Brian Potts.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 17, at Rogers Free Will Baptist in Lowell with the Rev. Randy Burris and Loy Counts officiating. Burial will be in Phillips Cemetery.
