Bernis "Tom" Barber, 60, of Batesville died Saturday, May 19, 2001 in Little Rock.
Born Sept. 1, 1940, in the Hutchinson Mountain community, he was the son of Elvin and Ethel Creech Barber. He was a retired tool and die maker, a millwright and a rancher. He was of the Baptist faith and a member of the Masonic Center Lodge 402.
Survivors include his wife, Anna Barber; two sons, B. L. Barber and Brian Barber, both of Batesville; a daughter, Brenda Barber of Paragould; his father, of Hutchinson Mountain community; five brothers, Gerald Barber and Reggie Barber, both of Hutchinson Mountain community; Charles Barber of Jonesboro, Billie Barber of Mississippi and Lannie Barber of Batesville; four sisters, Lois Jane Weakley of Tumbling shoals, Vida Mae Via of Greenbrier, Donna Fay Ramsey of Floral and Sherry Flowler of Jonesboro; three grandchildren, Jordain Barber, Justin Barber and Jaiden Barber; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother; two brothers, Terrel Marlin and Boyce Barber; and a sister Betty Carol Knatcal.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Parkview Baptist Church near Pfeiffer with John Godfrey officiating. Burial will be in Palestine Cemetery on Hutchinson Mountain with arrangements by Willis-Hays Funeral Service of Batesville.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Barber, Robert Barber, Greg Ramsey, John Via, Joey Barber and Josh Barber.
Honorary pallbearers will be Nathan Ramsey, Britton Barber, Brandon Barber and brothers of Center Lodge 402.
