FAYETTEVILLE -- Robert L. Wright, 56, of Fayetteville died Dec. 27, 2008, at Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville. He was born April 21, 1952, in Gore Springs, Miss., to Rosie Conley and David Wright.

He was a sports enthusiast, a coach, referee, teacher and mentor. He was a basketball referee for many years and was a member of the Arkansas Officials Association and Combs Street Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Wright and daughter, Nicky Barker.

Survivors include three children, Jason Wright of Key West, Fla., Deon Blackburn of Dallas and Necisse Barker of Fayetteville; four stepchildren, John Lowery of Fredericksburg, Va., Kim Jerome of Wilton Manors, Fla., Deanna Lowery of Key West and Joe Lowery of Orange, Va.; his brother, Joe L. "Ivory" Conley of Fayetteville; four sisters, Mary E. Carr, Rubbie K. Simon, both of Fayetteville, Rosie M. West of Wichita, Kan., and Julia M. Blackburn of Dallas; six grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Beard's Funeral Chapel in Fayetteville, online at www.beardsfuneralchapel.com. Irvine Williams will officiate. Burial will follow in Oak Cemetery.
