STORY, William Lee - The news of the death of William Lee Story, which occurred at his home near Highfill, Ark. Wednesday, September 13th, 1916 came as a sudden shock to his many friends over the country. He had not been well for a long time or able to work but not until the last few months did they become alarmed about his condition. He was born in Benton County, Ark. December 25, 1857; died September 13, 1916 at the age of 58 years, 9 months, 13 days. On December 19, 1877 he was united in marriage to Miss Mary Adams and lived a happy wedded life. To this union eight children were born, two girls and six boys, one baby girl dying at the age of three months. All of the children were present at the time of his death. Elsie and Sam reside in Texas and had been with him for several days. Herschel, of Kansas, arrived only a few minutes before he died and when he came his father said, "I'm glad to see you, son." He lived to see them all married except one daughter, Aline, and one son, Scott, who remains at home, which was perhaps a consolation to him to know that the wife and daughter would have someone to rely upon. All was done by physicians and kind and loving hands could do but to no avail. Cancer of the stomach is thought to be the cause of death, and heart trouble. The wife has lost a true companion, the children a kind and loving father, the Sunday school a worthy member and the vicinity a good neighbor and citizen. He leaves to mourn the loss of husband and father, a wife and one daughter, Miss Aline, and six sons, Elsie, Earl, Sam, Herschel, Sam (?) and Onley, two brothers, Bode of near Bentonville and one brother in Oklahoma, besides lots of other relatives and friends. He requested that Rev. Moody preach his funeral and Mr. Johnson make a short talk, which was done. Then he was tenderly laid to rest in the Hoover (Highfill) Cemetery to await the Resurrection Morn. The relatives extend their many thanks to the kind friends and neighbors for their kind assistance in the sickness and death of their dear husband and father and for the many beautiful flowers. A.F.M.
