Purple Heart
Irvin Ezert Davis, 82, of Pocahontas, died Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2006, at Randolph County Medical Center. He was born Aug. 11, 1923, in Maynard, a son of the late Jesse Edward and Malissa (Melton) Davis. He was an Army veteran of World War II (Purple Heart), and a member of the Church of Christ. He is survived by his wife, Wilma Viola (Gotthardt) Davis of the home; two sons, Billy Lee Davis of Imboden and Donnie Ray Davis of Maynard; a daughter, Kay Inness of Stokes; a sister, Wilma Evans of Pocahontas; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Saturday in the Chapel of McNabb Funeral Home with Arville Hill officiating. Burial followed in Washington Cemetery near Maynard. Pallbearers were Tim and Gary Hicks, Jim Layton, Mark Evans, Brit Davis and Mark Davis.
