Aged Citizen Passes Away
"Uncle Steve" Drown, one of the oldest and best known citizens of this section, died at his home near Pineville Last Wednesday morning, May 25th, at one o'clock, death coming rather suddenly.
Deceased was 85 years of age and the greater part of his life was spent in this county. He was born in Kentucky, but came to this section when quite young. He is a veteran of the Civil War, serving in the Confederate army.
"Uncle Steve" was one of the most highly respected citizens of his community, highly respected by every one. He leaves a host of friends to mourn his loss. Deceased was converted to life and united with the Missionary Baptist Church, remaining a faithful member until death.
The remains were laid to rest at Wise's Chapel Cemetery Wednesday, in the presence of a large gathering of relatives and friends, funeral services being conducted by Rev. D. A. Hively.
Besides his aged companion, deceased is survived by a son, Mr. J. F. Drown of Pineville, and a daughter Mrs. Mollie King of Oklahoma.
