Thurman H. Drown the husband of Bertha Elizabeth (Estes) Drown. Thurman H. Drown the son of J.F. Drown. He was born in Cross Roads, Izard County, Arkansas. He died in Batesville, Independence County, Arkansas.

Thurman H. Drown Dies Saturday Morning

Thurman H. Drown, life-long resident of this section, died at an early hour last Saturday morning, June 19. He passed away at a hospital in Batesville, where he had been under treat-ment since Thursday night.

Mr Drown had been sick a week or ten days previous to his death, but was not confined to his bed until three or four days before being removed to the hospital. The news of his death was a shock to everyone.

Deceased was 54 years of age, being the oldest of a family of fourteen children. He was born and reared in the vicinity of Cross Roads.

He was married to Miss Berth Estes of Cross Roads, who passed away in February 1941. The family moved to their farm home, one and a half miles north of town, a few years ago. Mr Drown was an upright citizen and held the confidence and esteem of everyone.

Surviving, are three sons, Vernon, of the Navy, stationed at Miami, Fla., Billie, who has just entered the Navy service, and Floyd of the home; one daughter Mrs Pauline Brinsfield of Mountain Home, Ark., his father, J. F. Drown, of Pineville, Ark.; seven brothers, Steve of Calico Rock, Tom of Cross Roads, Ark., frank of Oklahoma City, Okla., Charlie of California, Troy of Ardmore, Okla., Roy and Stanley Drown of Pineville and six sisters, Mrs Nora Lovelace and Mrs Cora Jennings of Cross Roads, Mrs Elsie Forrister of Wild Cherry, Mrs Maude Majors, Mrs Ersie Hutson and Mrs Emma Morgan of Pineville.

Funeral services were held at Spring Creek Church, Monday at 4 p.m., services being conducted by Rev Fred H. Bryson, pastor of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church of this place.

Interment was in Spring Creek Cemetery.
