Mrs. Mary Bertie Hodges, 85, died Tuesday in a Memorial Hospital at Brandon, Miss., following a lengthy illness. Survivors include four sons, O. L. Hidge Hodges, Smackover, Herman Hodges, Fort Worth, Tex., G. L. Hodges, Johnson City, Tenn., and Doyle Hodges, El Dorado; three daughters, Mrs. W. D. Rhodes of Brandon, Miss., Mrs. Elsie Webber, Chicago, Ill., and Mrs. Myrtle Eades of Hawkins, Tex.; 17 grandchildren and 14 great grandhcildren. Born July 25, 1884, she was the widow of J. L. Hodges. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at the Maple Avenue Baptist Church of Smackover. The Rev. J. L. Tinsley will officiate. Burial will follow in Lone Oak Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Merce Jackson, Jim Sutherlin, Earl Bowers, Leonard Williams, James Berry and Wallace Berry. The body will lie in state at Bailey Funeral Home from 2 p.m. Wednesday until 1 p.m. Thursday. The family will be at the home of Doyle Hodges, Hinson Road. (El Dorado Times - June 18, 1969)
