The Baxter Bulletin, Mountain Home, Arkansas, February 7, 1957:

Mrs. Josie Blevins

Funeral services for Mrs. Josephine (Josie) Blevins, 98, who died Friday night at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Dillon Willett, were held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday in the Willett home with Rev. Clause Crigler officiating.

Mrs. Blevins, who was believed to be the oldest person in Baxter county at the time of her death, was born in Dalton, Ga., on April 13, 1858, and was the daughter of the late William and Sarah Rogers Parks.

At the age of 11 years she moved to this county with her parents, and had resided here since that time. She was a member of the Baptist church.

In 1884 she was married to John R. Belvins, who preceded her in death in 1920.

Survivors include a son, Lawrence Belvins of Montrose, Colo.; three daughters, Mrs. Alice Denton of Brownfield, Texas, Mrs. Willett and Mrs. Rena Smith of Mountain Home; 17 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren.

Interment was in Oak Grove cemetery. Roller Funeral home was in charge of arrangements.

(Note: The obituary gives her father as William Parks; however, other family information gives his name as James Harvey Parks. The obituary also indicates that she was married in 1884, but more specific information shows that the actual marriage date was December 25, 1883.)
