DRAIN, William B. – W.B. Drain Dies At Elkins Home – W.B. Drain, 88, father of Robert Drain, died last night, at 6:45 at his home in Elkins, after several weeks illness. Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 2 with burial at Mount Salem cemetery, north of Elkins.

Mr. Drain was a Confederate soldier, entering service from Madison County. He was born in Missouri. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Mary Drain; three sons, Robert, Will and R.B. Drain, all of Fayetteville, and three daughters, Mrs. Lon Hudson of Fayetteville, Mrs. Emma Johnson of Tahlequah, Oklahoma and Mrs. Laura Wilson, of Fullerton, Calif.

State of Arkansas Confederate Pension Archives

W.B. Drain filed Veteran Application #10424 with the Confederate Pension Board of Washington County for a Confederate pension and it was received as allowed August 12, 1903 at the State, citing service with Company D, 3rd Arkansas Cavalry. Mr. Drain died March 6, 1930. His widow, Mrs. Mary Drain filed Widow Application #10424 with the State of Arkansas Confederate Pension Board and it was allowed. Mrs. Drain died April 22, 1937.

DRAIN, William B. - Uncle Billy Drain, 88 years of age, an old and highly respected citizen of Elkins, died Friday and was buried at Mt. Salem Sunday afternoon.
