Benton Courier Obituary:
Velma V. Carter, 95, of Benton died Sunday, Dec. 12, 2004.
She was born Sept. 26, 1909, in Haskell to John Nathan and Gracie Edmonson Croxton.
Mrs. Carter was a homemaker and member of Holland Chapel Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Reace W. Carter; one son, Curtis Carter; and one sister, May Velencia.
Survivors include one daughter, Joan Haynes and husband Jack of Benton; two sons, Bobby Carter and wife Wanda of Malvern and Les Carter and wife Eunice of Alexander; a daughter-in-law, Juanita Carter; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Roller-Ballard Funeral Home, with the Rev. Carl Ritchie officiating. Pallbearers will be Perry Appling, Alan Appling, Travis Carter, Buddy Carter, Mark Haynes, Rick Breckenridge and Drew Patterson. Burial will be in New Rosemont Memorial Park in Benton.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
