John N. Smithson Dies Suddenly at Home Here
John N. Smithson, age 51, died unexpectedly at his home here Monday night, July 11, following a heart attack. Up until a few minutes before his death he had appeared to be feeling as well as usual.
Mr. Smithson was well and favorably known here, as practically all his life was spent in Calico Rock and vicinity. He was born here December, 20, 1897, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Smithson. In 1926 he was married to Miss Fairy Owens. To this union five children were born, two whom preceded their father in death.
Surviving, are his wife; one son, J. B. Smithson of Russell, Kansas; two daughters, Mrs. Florine Brinsfield of Russell, Kansas and Lois Jane Smithson of the home; three brothers, Hubert, Thurman and Kirby Smithson of this vicinity; two sisters, Miss Mahala Smithson of Monitor, Wash., and Mrs. Thurman Mason of Calico Rock and three grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Thursday by Rev. W. C. Stewart, pastor of the Baptist Church and burial was in Roselawn Cemetery, under direction of the Roller Funeral Service. Pall bearers were; Sherman Garner, Elmer Estes, Jewell Stevens, Carl Reeves, E. E. McNeill and Frank Killian.
