Mrs. Smithson Passes Away
At the family home, three and one-half miles east of Calico Rock, on Saturday afternoon, Jan. 17th, Mrs. Elizabeth Smithson passed away, after an illness of several months from cancer. Everything possible was done to prolong her life, but all efforts were futile.
Deceased was born in Boone County, Ark., Oct. 4, 1876 and came to Izard County at the age of nine years with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Cooper. She was married to Bruce Smithson Jan. 6, 1895, to which union was seven children, all being with their mother in her last hours except Talmage; who lives at Henryetta, Okla. She was a most devoted Christian, having professed religion at an early age and joined the M. E. Church, South. She lived a consistent Christian life until death.
Burial took place at Palestine Sunday afternoon, funeral services being conducted by her pastor, Rev. W. G. Sears.
