Son of Homer Talmadge Bennett and Virgie M. Ward Bennett.

A.L. Bennett, 76, of Strawberry, died Sunday, July 25, 2010 at a hospital in Batesville.

He was born January 17, 1934 in Charlotte, Arkansas and was the son of Homer Talmage and Virgie (Ward) Bennett.

He was a bus mechanic for 18 years at Strawberry School. He was a “jack of all trades”, known for his mechanic abilities, sense of humor, and one liners. He was better known as “The Gov” by everyone. He loved his dog, “Dog”.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Jason Stephen Bennett; and sister, Dale Powers.

He is survived by a son Kenny Bennett and wife, Dana of Searcy; sister, Mildred Clem of Strawberry; one grandchild, Megan Cohn and husband, Matt of Kennett, Missouri; one great-grandchild, Jagger Preslee Cohn of Kennett; niece, Linda West of Strawberry; and nephew, Larry Liles of Chatsworth, California.

Graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at Ward Cemetery in Strawberry officiated by Justin Burge.

Pallbearers are Stanley Mayland, Allen MacDonald, Daniel Sexton, Matt Cohn, Danny Hugg, and Rick Clem.

Arrangements are by Roller-Crouch McGee Funeral Home of Cave City.
