TYGART, Martin F. - Martin F. Tygart was born in Tenn. on Sept. 15, 1839 and departed this life at his home in Gentry, Arkansas May 7, 1922. He came to Benton county, Ark. in 1860 and was married to Miss Mary Lefors on December 13, 1860. To this union ten children were born. His wife and six children remain to mourn his loss. Mrs. Ellen Hogan of Jay, Okla, Mrs. Clarissa Gibson, Decatur, Ark., Mrs. Arizona Tuttle, Chanute, Kan., Mrs. Dot Coffelt, Plainview, Ark., Vic and Cooper Tygart of Gentry. He served his country in the Federal army from 1862 until the close of the Civil war. He was a loyal, patriotic citizen, respected and highly esteemed by his countrymen, a quiet and accommodating neighbor. He was retiring in nature, preferring the pleasures of his home and family to that of a public life, unassuming and pleasant in all his relations in life; an honored member of the Masonic fraternity, ordering his life by the Square and Compass and hoping to attain to that perfect life which is promised to the faithful by the Grand Master of the Universe. Funeral services were conducted from the home at 2 o'clock last Monday afternoon by the Rev. T.A. Martin, assisted by the Masons. The remains were followed to their final resting place by a large number of relatives and friends. The Masons had charge at the grave.
