A graveside service for 84 year old Lessie Marie Knight Thompson of Lee's Summit, MO, will be held at 2:00PM on Saturday, May 9, at the Fairview United Methodist Church Cemetery. Mrs. Thompson entered into rest on May 1, 2009, at St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City, MO. Mrs. Thompson was born on August 30, 1924, to John Van Knight and Daisy Martha Smith Knight in Buford. She served as a 'Rosie the Riveter' during World War II and had a long career in real estate in the Lee's Summit, MO, area. Lessie was preceded in death by her parents; husband Don Thompson; two sisters, Hazel Knight Duggins and Ida Knight Arthur, and one brother, Arnold Ray Knight. She is survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins, including Betty Jo Kellum of Mt. Home, AR; Garry Duggins of Wideman, AR; Ronnie Arthur of Chilhowee, MO; Ray Knight of Firebaugh, CA; Donald Knight of San Francisco, CA and Beverly Quick of Mt. Home, AR. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Fairview United Methodist Church or the Fairview United Methodist Church Cemetery.
