Wallace Walton Covington, 68, a resident of Mt. Home, died Saturday in Baxter General Hospital. He lived here until 1933, when he move to Peoria, IL, to work for Keystone Steel and Wire Company. He retired in 1971 as a galvanizor and moved back to Mr. Home. He was a member of Good Fellows Club in Peoria, and American Bowling Congress.
A member of the Baptist Church, he was born March 14, 1909, in Mt. Home, Buford Community, to the late Joseph William Covington and the former Ella Taylor. He married the Former Norma Knight on Dec 20, 1931 in Gassville.
Mr. Covington is survived by his wife of the home; one son, Dean Covington Pekin, IL; two daughters, Mrs. Melba Swingle of Bartonville, IL and Mrs. Ina Wernsman of Metamora, IL; three brothers, Norman Covington of Columbus, GA, Hiram Covington of Mt. Home and Houston Covington of Little Rock; a sister, Mrs. Diane Hopper of Malvern; 14 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday at the Roller Funeral Chapel, officiated by Rev. Troy Melton.
Pallbearers were Mr. Covington's grandsons and nephews, Kevin Covington, Steve Swingle, Wally Swingle, Jerry Struckle, Allen Knight and Ray Knight.
Interment took place at Fairview Cemetery, under the direction of Roller Funeral Home, here.
