Oren Poe

Oren "Dixon" Poe, 74, of Bella Vista, died Sunday, May 5 at Washington Regional Medical Center.

Born Nov. 16 1916 at Wilburton, Okla., to John Poe and Edna Poe, he and his wife Edith moved to Bella Vista six years ago from Edmond, Okla. He was a member of Bella Vista Community Church. He was a Presbyterian minister for 26 years in Oklahoma, Arkansas, Iowa, and Indiana. He was a vocational rehabilitation counselor for the state of Oklahoma for 12 years, a 32nd degree Mason, member of the Blue Lodge at Woodard, Okla., a member of the Oklahoma retired employees organization, and Bella Vista Men's 9-Hole Golf Association.

Survivors include his wife, Edith Poe of the home; one son George Poe of Decatur Ala.; one daughter, Mary Catron of Oklahoma City, Okla.; two brothers Douglas Poe of Austin, Texas, and J. Paul Poe of Wilburton, Okla.; two sisters, Vivian Eaton and Betty Knew both of Austin, Texas; and two grandchildren.

A memorial service is set for Tuesday, May 7 at 2 p.m. in Bella Vista Community Church with John Foss officiating. Visitation was at Bella Vista Funeral Home on Monday. Burial will be In the Bella Vista Memorial Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Bella Vista Community Church Building Flund or to McCormick Theological/Seminary at 5555 South Woodlawn Ave., Chicago, Ill., 60637-9961.
