David the son of John and Pearl (McAbee) Edwards. Junie the daughter of Benjamin C and Ada Mae (Middlecoff) McPike Polston.
David Theodore "DT" Edwards, 93, of Paragould, formerly of Ravenden, died June 25, 2011, at Arkansas Methodist Hospital in Paragould.
Born June 2, 1918, in Ravenden, he was the son of John and Pearl McAbee Edwards. He was a graduate of Southern Baptist College and retired after many years of service with JAC's TV and Appliance in Jonesboro. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, serving at Pearl Harbor during World War II.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Junie Marie McPike Edwards, whom he married Jan. 7, 1937, in Leachville; a son, Teddy Caroll; two brothers, Rufus Edwards and Buell Edwards; and a sister, Nevia Sissom.
Survivors include four children, David Lee Edwards and wife Linda, Bono, John David Edwards, Ravenden, and Billy Wayne Edwards and wife Rondla, Oxford; a daughter, Tywana Marie Edwards and husband Harlan, Paragould; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Funeral is today at 3 p.m. at Higginbotham Funeral Service with Rev. Ryan Johnston, pastor of First Free Will Baptist Church in Walnut Ridge, officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Ward Cemetery at Strawberry.
Pallbearers will be Jacob Smith, Bryant Smith, Spencer Jackson, Jimmy Cyril Turner III, Billy Wayne Edwards Jr. and Shannon Edwards. Honorary pallbearers will be Thomas Caroll Edwards and Billy Joe Edwards.
Visitation will be today from 1 p.m. until time of the service.
