Charley Curtis Edwards the son of Charley Curtis"Buddy" Edwards, Sr. and Eva (Watson) Edwards. Madia Marie (Bilbrey) Miller Edwards the daughter of Isaac Newton Bilbrey and Geneva Marie (Culver) Bilbrey.


Charley Curtis Edwards, 90, of Searcy, was called to God on Friday, August 8, 2014. He was born December 19, 1923 in Antioch, Arkansas to the late Charley C. (Buddy) Sr. and Eva (Evie) Watson Edwards.

Charley graduated from Floyd High School in 1942. He was also a graduate of the United States Maritime Service School as a Radio Electrician in 1945. Charley served 45 years as a Merchant Seaman in the U. S. Maritime Service.

He was preceded in death by his parents, seven sisters and daughter, Jeanie (Frank) Miller.

Charley is survived by his wife of 38 years, Madia; grandson, Chadd Miller; nieces, Glenda (the late Dee) Beck of Hurst, Texas and Billie (Mike) Fry; nephews, Curtis (Pat) Hammock of Vicksburg, MS and Joe (Linda) Wallis; one great grandson and two great granddaughters; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends who will miss him dearly.

Charlie was a life long member of Saint Paul United Methodist Church in Searcy, Arkansas.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at St. Paul United Methodist Church, 2509 West Beebe-Capps Expressway in Searcy.

Cremation arrangements entrusted to Powell Funeral Home of Searcy.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Paul's Memorial Fund.

Madia Marie Edwards

Madia Marie Edwards, 88, of Pocahontas, died Sept. 30, 2017, at Five Rivers Medical Center.

Born Nov. 14, 1928, in Smithville, she was the daughter of Newt and Geneva Culver Bilbrey. She was a lifelong member of Saint Paul United Methodist Church in Searcy, and had been a resident of StoneBridge Senior Living Community in Pocahontas.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charley Edwards; and a daughter, Jeannie Miller.

Survivors include a niece, Billie Fry and husband Mike; a nephew, Joe Wallis and wife Linda; a sister, Oleta Wallis; a son-in-law, Frank Miller; a grandson, Chad Miller; and three great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Searcy with Matthew Johnson officiating. McNabb Funeral Home of Pocahontas has charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to St. Paul's Memorial Fund.
