Well Known and Active Resident Dies Here Monday
Mrs. R. M. Atkinson Jr. passed away at Bates Memorial Hospital Monday, January 16 at 5:30 p.m. She was the wife of Dr. R. M. Atkinson who is a life-long resident of Bentonville.
Mrs. Atkinson was born in Pique, Ohio, and was 54 years old at her death.
Before her long illness, Mrs. Atkinson was very active in civic affairs, being a member of the Study Club for several years and interested in all local organizations. She was also a member of the Eastern Star. She was a member of the Methodist church and the Pearl McCain Circle in that church.
Survivors include, her husband, and two daughters, Mrs. Jerry Kelley of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and Mrs. Frank DeShong of Bakersfield, California.
Funeral services were held January 18 at 2:30 p.m. at the Methodist church here with Rev. Alf. A. Eason officiating. Burial was in the Bentonville cemetery.
