SHELTON, Vernon Duncan - Vernon Duncan Shelton was born in Louisburge, Logan Co., Ky. Aug. 18, 1903 and died Nov. 30, 1920. Most of his life was spent near Louisburge. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charley Shelton, came to Rogers a little over a year ago and bought a home four miles southwest of Rogers. He had been afflicted over two years but never complained. He was taken suddenly worse Saturday evening and all that loving hands could do to relieve him was done but all in vain. Vernon was only 17 years, 3 months and 13 days old but in this time he had lived longer than many who live to be old because he lived so well. He was converted and joined the M.E. Church south at Oakley Chapel last August during a series of meetings conducted by Rev. J.M. Frier. He was an officer in the Epworth League, a faithful member of the Anglers S.S. Class. His presence was an inspiration to his teacher. How we will miss him. Rev. W.L. Oliver preached his funeral at the church and he was laid to rest in the beautiful cemetery near by. His Sunday School Teacher, Mrs. John B. Jackson.
