Bessie Mae "Nink" Atkins, age 78, of Benton; passed away Friday June 23, 2006. She was born on July 6, 1927 in Laurel, Mississippi to the late Calvin and Lula Bell Harrington. Mrs. Atkins was a homemaker and a member of East Side Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Johnny and Oscar Harrington and two sisters, Janie Tidwell and Laura Harrington.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Roy Ned Atkins; two daughters, Ruth Tully and Grace Whorton all of Benton; brother, James Harrington of Oregon; sister, Gracie Bevel of Helena; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday night at Ashby Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Chris Tully, Craig Tully, Chad Bellinger, Andrew Raines, Rick Elrod and Greg Elrod.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday at East Side Baptist Church with burial at New Rosemont Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Humane Society.
Family Comments: She dearly loved her family, pets and church. She had a special affection for great-grandchildren.
