TYLER, Texas — Christina Howe Rogers, 92, of Tyler died Nov. 13, 1999, at Park Place Nursing Center. She was born April 4, 1907, in Frierson, La., to Clyde and Susie Howe. She was a graduate of William Woods College. She received a master's degree in education from the University of Arkansas. Her first teaching position was at the one-room school at War Eagle.
She had a long career both as a teacher and a counselor at schools in Arkansas, Missouri and Texas. She was active in several educational organizations in Arkansas. She was a longtime member of First Christian Church in Rogers. She relocated to Tyler in 1989, where she was a member of the First Christian Church. She was an accomplished china painter.
Survivors include one sister-in-law, Bobbie Howe of Tyler; one niece, Betty Seagraves of Garland, Texas; one nephew, Robert L. Howe of Bay City, Texas.
Services were Nov. 15 at Lloyd James Funeral Home in Tyler with Dr. Earl Gibbs officiating.
Burial will be at 3 p.m. today at Rogers Memorial Cemetery with the Rev. Chris Pulliam officiating.
