John William Clifft of Ash Flat, formerly of Franklin, son of the late Tilden R. and Pearl Tatum Clifft, was born April 21, 1908 at Elk City, Oklahoma. He died May 6, 2000 in West Plains, Missouri. He was 92.

Mr. Clifft was united in marriage to Bessie Tennessee Rowden in 1925 at Oxford. He owned and operated Franklin Feed Mill for many years. He was also in the cattle business. He was a member of the Franklin Masonic Lodge #350 and was of the Methodist faith.

Survivors include two sons, Gerald Clifft of Mountain Home; and Conway Clifft of Paragould; one daughter, Sybil May of Kennewick, Washington; one sister, Kee Stump of Mountain Home; fourteen grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, his parents and three brothers.

Graveside services were held May 12, 2000 at Oxford Cemetery with the Franklin Masonic Lodge #350 officiating. Pallbearers were Richard May, John May, Rickey Clifft, David Clifft, Danny Clifft and Robert Hodges.

Arrangements were under the direction of Howard Funeral Home of Melbourne.
