Bessie Tennessee Clifft, 73 of Franklin died on January 2, 1980. She was the daughter of John Rowden and Sarah Carruthers and a member of Horseshoe Bend Methodist Church. She and John Clifft were united in marriage on February 9, 1925. Mrs. Clifft had resided in Izard County all her life.
Surviving are her husband, John of Franklin; 2 sons, Gerald Clifft of Franklin and Conway Clifft of Paragould; one daughter, Sybil May of Kennewick, Wash.; one brother, Noble Rowden of Oxford; 4 sisters, Phrona Hames of Detroit, Edna Owens of Greenville, S.C., Marvis Green of Salem and Rheadean Cooper of Kennewich, Wash. Also 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was at Horseshoe Bend Methodist Church on Jan 4. Burial was in Oxford Cemetery, Rev. John Copher and Rev. Harrel Ford officiating.
Pallbearers were Kennard Billingsley, Garden Bone, Henry Helms, Fisher Moss, Orlie Moss and Buster Stewart. Honorary Dean Floyd and Herbert Mitchell.
Howard’s Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
