William “Bill” Wood, also known as Red, went to be with the Lord, February 17, 2015. He was born August 19, 1931, in Hot Springs, Arkansas to the late John Clyde and Gertrude (Newcomb) Wood. Red retired from Stratcor in 1994. He enjoyed life to the fullest, especially hunting, fishing, watching all sports, square-dancing, his grandchildren, and mowing his place. Red is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, John C. Wood, Robert Wood; sisters, Martha Maner and Betty Jane Wood. Survivors include his loving wife of 59 years, Nelda Wood; sons, Clift Wood (Gail), Billy Wood (Teresa), Matthew Wood (Heather); daughters, Katie Hammel (John), Nancy Wood; sister, Virginia Niehay of Sheridan, Wyoming; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visitation will be 1:00 p.m. Friday with service following at 2:00 p.m. at Morning Star Methodist Church with Rev. John Walker officiating. Burial will follow at Morning Star Cemetery. Pallbearers include John Hammel, Randy Rowland, Sandy Walker, Lonnie Ault, Joe Johnson, and Dustin Brymer. Honorary pallbearers are Alvin Faulkner, Ernest Turpen, Roy Lambert, Alvin Morton, and Ken O’Neal. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Morning Star Methodist Church, 3200 Spring Street, Hot Springs, AR 71901.
