James Coy Curtis, 88, of Paron passed away Sunday February 17, 2008. He was born on April 14, 1919 to Monroe and Viola Curtis in the Nebo Community of Paron.
Coy served as a Naval Signalman in W.W. II and became an educator, teaching English at Paron High School and served as superintendent of Rural Dale School. He was also retired from Western Foods, Inc. He was a deacon of North Fork Missionary Baptist Church and a 50 year member of Masonic Lodge *309. He will be fondly remembered for his public speaking skills, sense of humor and ability to uplift and encourage others. For many years he was the emcee and storyteller at the Paron School Reunions.
He was predeceased by Ina, his wife of 54 years. He is survived by his sister, Lois Roller of Little Rock, two sons, Mike Curtis and wife Dee Dee of Paron, Ricky Curtis of Paron; three grandchildren, Chris Curtis, Clay Curtis, and Kendra Curtis and several nephews and nieces.
Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday February 19, 2008 at North Fork Missionary Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held 3:30 p.m. Wednesday February 20, 2008 at North Fork Missionary Baptist Church with the Revs. Don McCutcheon and Cecil Hyde officiating.
Internment will be in Fowler Cemetery in Paron.
Pallbearers will be Bill Blaylock, Mark Blaylock, J.D. Chambers, Melvin Hill, David Jefferson, Bill Nabors and Greg Rankin.
Memorials may be made to the North Fork Missionary Baptist Church Building Fund at 14925 Lewis Trail, Paron, AR 72122.
