Billy Bob Curtis, 72, of Benton died Wednesday, January 7, 2004 at Baptist Medical Center. He was born September 7, 1931 in Keevil, AR to the late George H. and Eva Lee Burrow Curtis. Mr. Curtis was a member of Holland Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, retired from Alcoa as a maintenance mechanic and was a F & A Mason member of Benton Lodge #34. He served as an Alderman in Benton for 32 years and was chairman of the Regulatory Solid Waste Disposal Board since 1993. Besides his parents, one grandson, Jonathan Daniel Curtis also preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife, Opal Ford Curtis of Benton; son, Doug and wife Jeannette Curtis of Benton; daughter, Beverly Vinyard and husband Ron of Benton; brothers, George H. Jr., Nathan, and Larry Curtis all of Benton; sisters, Shirley Boyette and Kathy Curtis of Benton, Virginia Vandergrift of Malvern, and Russlyn Krueger of Little Rock; and grandchildren, Amber Loyd and husband Chad, Heath Vinyard, Joshua Curtis, John David Curtis, Jonica Curtis, and Joanna Curtis all of Benton. Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 10, 2004 at Holland Chapel Baptist Church with Rev. Jim Harrell and Rev. Kim Hammer officiating. Interment will follow in New Rosemont Memorial Park. Arrangements are by Roller-Ballard Funeral Home (315-4047). Pallbearers are Donald Davis, Dub Crowson, Richard Simmons, Unice Latimer, Wayne Bishop, and Mike Cult. Honorary pallbearers are past and present Benton City Council Members and City of Benton Mayors. Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, January 9, 2004 at the funeral home.
