Jul 11, 1935 - Dec 28, 2023
It’s impossible to deny the magnificence of God’s creation when you look around this beautiful planet, and yet of all these things, one of His greatest creations was a mom Mother’s are gifted with the inexplicable ability to make every one of her children feel and believe that they are her favorite, it’s just the way God made moms. It’s also what makes saying goodbye so difficult.
On Thursday, December 28, 2023 Jesus called our beautiful mom, Peggy Ann Barrett home at the age of 88. Peggy was born in England, AR on July 11, 1935 to her proud parents Claud and Gladys Barrett. She grew up helping her parents in their family restaurant and for the majority of her life worked in the customer service industry. Her proudest accomplishments would be the births of her children, Elizabeth (Mel) Arnold, Peggy Sue Hickman, Will (Laurie) Green, and Jennifer (Shawn) Shadwick. She was blessed with numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
God packed a gigantic personality into that tiny, little five-foot frame we called momma. She was feisty, fun loving, and a defender of the ones she loved. She radiated beauty from the inside out and always made you feel special. She enjoyed delicious desserts, watching countless reruns of Murder She Wrote, and retelling stories of her youth. She had a fantastic sense of humor, and a gigantic love for all her sweet dogs, especially her precious Little Bit.
Peggy loved the Lord and she made it a priority to share God’s goodness and grace with all her children. Because of this we are able to cling to the promises of the Lord and be reminded that He is close to the broken-hearted and His peace will surpass all understanding. With heavy hearts knowing she is no longer with us on this side of Heaven, we rest assured that she is rejoicing in the arms of Jesus and reunited with the following loved ones who preceded her in death: her father Claud Barrett, her mother Gladys Barrett, her brother Nathan Barrett, and her grandson Zack Shadwick.
Grief is the painful cost of losing someone we love, but the sweet rewards are the memories, the moments, and the unconditional love that God allowed us to have with our sweet mamma. It’s not goodbye, it’s until we meet again.
