Marvin Gary Barrett 61, lifelong resident of North Little Rock and most recent of Cabot passed away Sunday, August 7, 2011. Gary was born to the late Marvin L. and Ruby W. Watkins Barrett in Murfreesboro, TN. Gary attended Park Hill Elementary, Ridge Road JHS, and graduated from North Little Rock High School in 1968. He received a BS degree in Marketing and Management from Arkansas State University in 1973. Gary retired after 35 years with General Mills. He was of Baptist faith. As a young man he served in the Army National Guard. He was a member of North Little Rock Landlords Association. He also was an avid Goldwing Motorcycle rider, having traveled to every state except Hawaii, and to each Providence of Canada. He will be missed by all that knew him.
He is survived by his sons, Ryan Jacob and Reed Jordan Barrett; the mother of his children, Sheilah Barrett; one brother, Bob (Kay) Barrett; and one sister, Gina Barrett; and a host of other family and friends.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m., Thursday, August 11, 2011 at Roller-Owens Funeral Home Chapel (501-791-7400) with Reverend Paul Holderfield officiating. Entombment will follow at Rest Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home. Online guestbook www.rollerfuneralhomes.com/owens.
