Gary Francis Hooper, 74, of Wesley; passed away Sunday, March 3, 2024, at home. He was born Thursday, December 8, 1949, at Pettigrew; to Denver Carl and Betty Jean Martin Hooper.

Gary married Thelma Marie Laney on Saturday, June 4, 1977 at Bohannan Mountain Church; and together they were parents to four children. He was employed for many years by Tyson Foods and was a member of the Goshen Church of Christ.

Gary enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He had a knack for carpentry and building, constructing many houses with his talent. Gary was known for his strong work ethic, always putting his all into his tasks. In his later years, he found pleasure in word searches as a relaxing pastime.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Denver and Betty Hooper, two brothers, Carl Hooper and Larry Hooper, and one sister, Linda Barksdale. He is survived by his wife, Thelma Hooper, of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Amanda Hooper, of Forum; three daughters and one son-in-law, Ida Greenlee, of Wesley; Anna and Jeremy Stines, of Huntsville; and Linda Brown, of Wesley; and 19 grandchildren. Gary is also survived by 13 brothers and sisters.

No services are scheduled at this time. Cremation is entrusted to Brashears Funeral Home and Crematory of Huntsville.
