Mrs. Verna Mae Martin, age, 94, of Prescott, Arkansas, passed away Wednesday, June 11, 2014, at St. Michaels Hospital in Texarkana, Texas. She was born April 10, 1920 in Rosston, Arkansas to Thomas and Mary Ester McDaniels Atkins. Mrs. Martin was a homemaker and a member of of Central Baptist Church in Prescott for 60 years. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, her favorite hobby was to work in her yard and spend time with her grandchildren. Mrs. Martin was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 45 years, Ray Martin, brother, Herman Atkins, sisters, Melva Stussey, Mildred Crain, and Virginia Wiggs. Mrs. Martin is survived by her son, Charles Martin and wife Judy of Prescott, Arkansas, daughter, Mary Fore and husband Dale of Prescott, Arkansas, grandchildren, Karen Ghormley, Vicki Dougan, Kenny Martin and Christy White, great-grandchildren, Dustin and Dylan Ghormley, Dayne Ghormley, Kevin White, Karlie White, and Amanda Dougan and by a great-great- grandchild, Arlen Dawson. Visitation for Mrs. Martin will be Friday, June 13, 2014, from 1:00 to 2:00pm, prior to the service at Central Baptist Church in Prescott. Funeral service for Mrs. Martin will be 2:00pm, Friday, June 13, 2014, at Central Baptist Church in Prescott with Bro. Perry Johnson officiating with burial to follow in DeAnn Cemetery in Prescott.
