March 30, 1932 - November 7, 2023

Ernest Turpen, 91, of Hot Springs, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on November 7th, 2023. He was born on March 30th, 1932 and was the only child of Curt and Elizabeth Turpen. He knew the Lord and was a member of Morning Star Methodist Church.

Ernest was preceded in death by his parents, wife Dorothy Rose Turpen; daughter Jan Stauder and son-in-law Michael Stauder.

He is survived by his son Gene (Nicole) Turpen of Hot Springs; grandchildren Whitney (Brandi) Stauder, Brad (Ashley) Stauder, Justin (Leslie) Turpen, Ethan (Clare) Turpen, Robyn Herrington, Blair Turben and three great grandchildren.

After graduating from high school, Ernest served in the United States Air Force as an airplane mechanic. His passion for anything with an engine led to his life work as a small business owner and auto mechanic. As his grandson Whitney fondly stated, “my grandpa could fix a carburetor in the dark without getting his hands dirty.”
He was an avid outdoorsman enjoying hunting, fishing and riding motorcycles. In his later years, he fed more animals from his back porch than her ever hunted in the past. Hummingbirds were his favorite. He will be greatly missed.

Graveside service will be 2:00 pm Sunday, November 12, 2023 at Morning Star Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Gene Turpen, Justin Turpen, Ethan Turpen, Brad Stauder, Whitney Stauder and Sylas Stauder.
