Alfred A. Moody was born to U.V and Golden Arnaz Moody on June 13,1936 in Lexington, TN. He went to be with his Heavenly Father on July 9,2021 in Fort Smith, AR.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 56 years, Melva Moody, daughter Marcia Moody-Sims, and great grandson, Sawyer Jones.

Alfred is survived by his wife and life-long business partner, Pat Smith-Moody, daughter, Dayna Jones (Eddie) of Van Buren, AR two sons, Kent Moody (Chervet) of Phoenix, AZ, and Marcus Moody of Fort Smith, AR.
He is survived by 8 grandchildren, Blake Jones, Adam Jones, Emily Hernandez, Caitlin Moody, McGwire (Mac) Moody, McCade Moody, McLane Moody, 6 great grandchildren and a host of other family members.

He owned and operated several businesses throughout the years. In 1967, he purchased his first food service business, The Dairy Freeze in Trumann, AR. He went on to found Al' Bar-B-Q of Trumann and Fort Smith, AR that still are in operation. He later opened Subway, Inc. in 1995. He spent a lifetime mentoring many other business owners.

He was a devoted member and served on the board of The Pentecostal Church where he was often found working on the church air conditioners in his usher suitcoat.

May 27, 1940 - September 2, 2016

Melva Karen Moody, 76, of Fort Smith, Arkansas, entered into rest of Friday, September 2, 2016 in Fort Smith.
She was born May 27, 1940 in Truman, Arkansas, the daughter of the late Elvie and Ruth (McGough) Smith.

She was co-owner of Al’s BBQ in Fort Smith and a member of Northside United Pentecostal Church.

She was preceded in death by daughter, Marcia Sims, brother, Charles Smith and sister, Marcia Smith.

Survivors include her loving husband of 56 years, Alfred, daughter, Dayna Jones and husband Eddie of Van Buren, two sons, Kent Moody and wife Chervet of Phoenix and Marcus Moody and wife Mikelyn of Roland, sister, Regina Brewer of Truman, two brothers, Wayne Smith of Truman and Mike Smith of Blanchard, nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Northside United Pentecostal Church with interment at Roselawn Cemetery, Fort Smith.
Pallbearers will be Blake Jones, Adam Jones, McGuire Moody, Justin Harvey, McCade Moody and McClane Moody. Honorary pallbearers will be Chad Eversole, John Barnes, Wayne and Mike Smith, Lee Bolton, Gene Dale Winyard and Jerry Bolton.
