Richard “Mac” McElhiney, passed away on April 25, 2019 in the presence of loved ones after a long heroic battle of congestive heart failure. He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Emma Jo Stegall McElhiney. He leaves behind his daughters and their husbands: Stephanie Mullins (Tim), Libby Cameron (Robert), and Jennifer Henderson (Michael), grandchildren: Josh Sanders (Kimberly), Morgan Hughes, Lindsey Clark, Hannah Cameron, Dalton Cameron, Skyler Henderson, Dylan Hayes, McKenzie Henderson, Sarah Roberson, Samuel Roberson and great- grandchildren: Wesley, Braxton, Georgia, and Everleigh. He also leaves a brothers Tommy McElhiney (Joyce), Doyle Stegall (Dorsey) and sisters Barbara McElhiney, Karen Stephen, Ginger Busch (Mike) and his love, Mary Nelson.

Mac was born on January 31, 1939 in Wichita, Kansas to the late Nina Sue and Odell Ernest McElhiney. He moved to El Dorado, Arkansas in 1963 with his employer, NCR Corporation, to work as a field engineer. He retired from there after 36 years of service. During this time he was a member of the National Guard from 1963-1969. After settling in to Arkansas, he met then later married Emma Jo on April 13, 1964. Together there they raised family and remained married for 48 years until Jo’s death on October 6, 2012. Mac was a loyal servant at the East Faulkner Church of Christ for 54 years, where he faithfully served as Deacon.

Later in life, he had a special relationship with Ms. Mary Nelson where he rediscovered his love for country western dancing. He was an exceptional fisherman and enjoyed sharing his love for fishing with those he held dear. He also enjoyed spending time at Champagnolle Landing playing pool and dominoes with his buddies. He wanted everyone to know he was so blessed with such wonderful family and friends.

The funeral service will be held at East Faulkner Church of Christ on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. with a graveside service to immediately follow at Rest Haven Memorial Garden. Pallbearers are Joshua Sanders, Dalton Cameron, Dylan Hayes, Samuel Roberson, Skyler Henderson, John Busch, Jeremy Busch and Mike Busch and Doyle Stegall as Honorary Pallbearers.
