Walter Watkins died Monday in a local hospital following a lengthy illness. Born in Arkansas, he was the son of Ned and Tilda Burns Watkins. He was once a member of Lee Chapel A.M.E. Church. He was married to Miss Rena Bell. Eight children were born to this union. His survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Marie Roland, El Dorado, Mrs. Clara Wright, Mrs. Mildred Burns and Mrs. Erdie Lee Watkins, all of San Diego, Calif.; three sons, Walter Watkins, Jr., El Dorado, Emmitt Louis Watkins and Milton Watkins, both of San Francisco, Calif.; eight grandchildren; five great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held in the Chapel of Andrews Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Thursday. Burial will follow in Lot Burgy under the direction of Andrews Funeral Home.
