Mrs. Sarah Jane Garner, 86, of Rt. 2, Strong, died Friday afternoon at an El Dorado hospital following a lengthy illness. She was born at Strong, Nov. 16, 1880, and was the daughter of George and Lizzie Atkins Henry. She was a life-long resident of Union County and was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church of El Dorado. Survivors include two sons, Floyd Garner of Strong, and Hubert Garner of El Dorado; five daughters, Mrs. Vadie Duke, Mrs. Louise Hargett, Mrs. Tronie LeGuire, and Mrs. Adele Jones, all of Strong and Mrs. Irene Moore of El Dorado; one brother, H. L. Henry of Strong; three sister, Mrs. Betty Garner of Strong, Mrs. Tippie Stockemer of Hot Springs and Mrs. Linnie Carson of Atlanta, Tex.; one step-son, Sam Garner of El Dorado; one step-daughter, Mrs. Leona Bell of Strong; 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at p.m. Sunday at the Green Grove Assembly of God Church with Rev. Ronald Watson and Rev. Vernon Ables officiating. Burial will be in Green Grove Cemetery under the direction of Rumph Mortuary. Pallbearers include Curtis Bell, Jimmy Garner, Tommy Jones, Douglas Garner, Charles Duke, Stanley Hargett and Marvin Duke. Honorary pallbearers include Jacob Ellis, Charles Lewis, Frank Davis, George Gilmore and Bill Johnson. The body will be taken to the residence at Rt. 2, Strong at 10 a.m. Saturday.
