December 1, 1886 - December 21, 1965
Mrs. Hattie Herring, 79, of Strong, died Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. in a local hospital following a short illness. Mrs. Herring was born Dec. 1, 1886, in New London, Ark., the daughter of William Bradford and Lou Smalling Frisby. She was a member of the New London Baptist Church and a life-long resident of Union County. Mrs. Herring is survived by two sons, Earl Herring and Aubry Herring, both of Strong; two daughters, Mrs. M. H. Hollis of Ruston, La., and Mrs. Hazel Norris of Strong; two brothers, Norman Frisby and Belton Frisby, both of Strong; four sisters, Mrs. Lena Lewis of Strong, Mrs. Ida Phillips and Mrs. Ruby Norris, both of Selma, Calif.; and Mrs. Marie Broach of Camden; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the New London Baptist Church with the Rev. J. W. Smith and the Rev. Chester Tipton officiating. Burial will be in Green Grove Cemetery under the direction of Rumph Mortuary. Pallbearers will be Ernst Frisby, Lloyd Frisby, Berkley Frisby, Bill Frisby, Charlie Frisby, and Hayse Frisby. The body was taken to the family residence Wednesday afternoon. (The El Dorado Times - December 22, 1965)
