Juanita
Jan 17, 1931 - Mar 18, 2017
Juanita Phillips, born January 17, 1931 in Badgett, Arkansas to Jim and Jenny McGill, left this world to get her crown and move into her mansion on Saturday, March 18, 2017. She is now reunited with her husband of 56 years, Clarence Lynn Phillips and with her Jesus, who she faithfully served from the time she gave her heart and life to him at the age of 18. Juanita married the man of her dreams on April 17, 1948. He has waited on her for 13 years to join him in glory. Together they raised four children, Jimmy Phillips (deceased), Mark (Ashley) Phillips of Gravel Ridge, Angie (Gary) Ringgold of Jacksonville and Sharon (Harlan) Ray of Texas. Left to carry on the legacy are twelve grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews; her brother, Cecil McGill and her sister, Louise LaPointe. Her heart and compassion led her to serve as a mother to those whom she welcomed into her home and raised as her own.
Juanita was a charter member of Gravel Ridge Baptist Church. She was a mom who stayed at home with her kids till all were out of high school. She then served as Sr. Citizen Director at Gravel Ridge First Baptist Church for 20 years. In 2009, due to health issues, moved to an assisted living facility where she enjoyed the company and Bingo. You couldn't go to visit her at 3:00 because she was busy playing bingo! The last four months of her life were spent at home surrounded by her family and friends who loved and cared for her. Gary and Angie faithfully fulfilled and served out Gods command, John 15:13. She faithfully served in teaching, Women's ministry and multiple other roles within the church. She was blessed to travel the world and has touched more lives than can be counted with her humility, her sweet spirit and her heart of love. Thank you mom for everything. We love you. Will see you soon.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at That Church, 901 East Kiehl Ave. Sherwood, with family receiving friends and guest from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, March 21st at the church. Burial will be in Gravel Ridge Cemetery. Arrangements by Smith - North Little Rock Funeral Home. Online obituary at www.SmithFamilyCares.com .
