Dorothy O. Pagan age 87 of El Dorado passed from this life on Monday, August 25, 2014 at her home in El Dorado, among family and friends. Dorothy was born on February 27, 1927 in Linden, NJ to the late Angus DeMerchant and Daisey (Mitchell) DeMerchant of New Brunswick, Canada. Dorothy was a retired registered nurse, serving a number of years with Warner Brown Hospital and Hillsboro Nursing Home before her retirement. After retirement, she enjoyed all the good times volunteering at Oak Ridge Nursing Home helping with bingo and other various activities. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend whom will be greatly missed by all.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 60 years, James C. Pagan; daughter, Pamela Dee Pagan and a brother, Arthur DeMerchant.
Those left to cherish her memory include one son, James C. Pagan Jr and wife Cindy of Jackson, MS; two daughters, Madeline Turner and husband Glenn of Surprise, AZ and Kim Thomas of El Dorado; five grandchildren; nine great grandchildren and one sister, Jean DeMerchant Medbury of Winter Haven, FL.
Visitation will be from 5-7 pm on Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at Bailey Funeral Home.
Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 pm on Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at Bailey Funeral Home Chapel with Evangelist, Marsha Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home of El Dorado. The family would like to say a special thank you to Dr. Matt Callaway and to all the staff of Life Touch Hospice, for their compassion and care during our mother's final days.
Memorials may be made to the John R. Williamson Hospice House in memory of Dorothy Pagan.
