James Sevrill Burns, 47, Norphlet, died Sunday night. Born in Norphlet, Nov. 23, 1922, he was the son of Will and Mable Wiley Burns. He was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church and a veteran of World War II. He is survived by a son, Joe Allen Burns, El Dorado, a daughter, Miss Patricia Burns, Los Angeles, Calif.; his mother and father; three brothers, John Henry Burns, Richmond, Calif., Willie A. Burns, Norphlet, and Joe B. Burns, Chicago, Ill. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 3 p.m. in the Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Norphlet with the Rev. E. L. Cole officiating. Burial will follow in Rehobeth Cemetery under the direction of Sims Mortuary. (El Dorado Times - March 28, 1970)
