January 31, 1892 - June 12, 1964
H. Clay Burns, 72, 601 S. Parkway, died unexpectedly at 9:30 a.m. Friday at a local hospital after an apparent heart seizure. He was born in El Dorado Jan. 31, 1892, the son of James R. and Annie Mason Burns and had been a lifetime resident of this area. He was a member of the First Christian Church and a retired pipefitter and charter member of Local 706 Plumbers and Steamfitters Union. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Pearl Lawrence Burns of El Dorado; two sons, Colon Burns and J. R. Burns, both of El Dorado; a daughter, Mrs. David Griffin of St. Louis, Mo; four brothers, W. A. Burns and Hugh H. Burns, both of El Dorado, John Lee Burns of Beckville, Tex., and Carl Burns of Wichita, Kan.; four sisters, Mrs. Eula Williams of Henrietta, Okla., Mrs. O. A. Bauman of Benton, Miss, Blanch Burns of Stuttgart, and Mrs. D. F. Blann of El Dorado; one grandson and four granddaughters. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Rumph Mortuary.
