**Obituary
Joy Avinell Wheeler, 85, of Pleasant Plains died September 10, 2020.
She was born October 8, 1934 in Floral, Arkansas to Millard and Helen (Wilf) Burress.
Avinell was a member of the Independence Missionary Baptist Church. She was a foster grandparent at Midland Elementary School. Her hobbies included gardening and bingo and she loved her family very much.
She is survived by two sons, Ronnie Wheeler (Karen) of Newark, Arkansas, Gary Wheeler (Carolyn) of Pleasant Plains, Arkansas; one daughter, Sondra Grider (James) of Pleasant Plains , Arkansas; three sisters, Betty Coots of Alexander, Arkansas, Hattie Sue Lanier (Tommy) of Bryan, Texas, Ina Ruth Reed of Concord, Arkansas; eight grandchildren, Dusty Wheeler, Drew Wheeler, Tara Dull, Bani' Meharg, Shane Martin, Jammie Cox, Chelsea Brackett, Jarrod Grider; eighteen great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Avinell is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wayne Wheeler; and a brother, Buddy Burress.
Pallbearers are Dusty Wheeler, Drew Wheeler, Shane Martin, Jarrod Grider, Sherwin Meharg, and Caleb Brackett. Honorary pallbearers include the staff at Woodlawn Nursing Home.
Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00pm Sunday, September 13, 2020 at the Roller-Crouch Funeral Home in Batesville.
Services will be held Monday, September 14, 2020 at 10:00am at the Independence Missionary Baptist Church with Wesley Roberts officiating. Burial will follow at Putman Cemetery in Pleasant Plains.
We are complying with the Arkansas Department of Health guidelines and limiting indoor visitation attendance to 50 people at one time. Church attendance guidelines will be posted at the church. All attendees must provide and wear their own masks before entering and social distancing will be observed.
