Charles Evon Wheeler, 89, of Batesville died February 2, 2020.
He was born January 14, 1931 in Pleasant Plains, to the late Charles Marvin Wheeler and Ruth Marie Clark Wheeler.
Charles Evon was a member of Central Avenue United Methodist Church since 1994 and a prior member of Cornerstone United Methodist Church. He retired from the Arkansas State Highway Department after twenty-two years of service. Charles Evon enjoyed fishing, deer and quail hunting, and taught his grandchildren an appreciation for the outdoors. He judged horse shows and was an award-winning Missouri Fox Trotting Horse trainer. Dancing and sports were his passion after retirement.
Survivors include his wife, Christine Ezekiel Wheeler; daughters, Judith Martin (Paul) and Annette McShane (Pat); brother, Jeary Wheeler (Betty), stepsons, Daniel Brewington (Marla) and Tony Brewington (Marti); grandchildren, Christina Burris, Matthew Burris (Keri), Joey Wyatt (Teri), Andrew Wyatt and Ethan Wyatt (Melanie); step-grandchildren Stacey Kirkpatrick (Jimmy), John, Matthew, and Miles McShane, Ivy Hooker, Madison and Evan Brewington; great grandchildren, Jackson and Zion Wyatt, Zaidyn and Weslyn Wyatt, and Ranz Wyatt, Quillan and Caven Cribbs-Burris; and step great grandchildren, Kaitlyn Markos (Alex), Logan Kirkpatrick, Eli and Sydni Cornman; and step great great grandchild, Cas Cornman and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Grace Ann Bump Wheeler; and brothers Gearld, Wayne and Don Edward Wheeler.
Pallbearers will be Christina Burris, Matthew Burris, Joey, Andrew, Ethan Wyatt, John and Matt McShane.
Honorary Pallbearers Kenneth Clark, Doyle Clark, and Lynn Pearson.
Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 P.M., Wednesday, February 5, 2020 at Roller-Crouch Funeral Home.
Services will begin at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, February 6, 2020 at Central Avenue United Methodist Church, 1205 North Central Avenue, Batesville, Arkansas 72501
Presiding will be Rev. Paul Seay, and Rev. James Wheeler.
Burial will be held at Putman Cemetery, Pleasant Plains, Arkansas.
Memorials may be made to Central Avenue United Methodist Church, or Putman Cemetery Fund, 4565 Blackland Road, Pleasant Plains, Arkansas 72568.
The family expresses appreciation to Krishna Kakkera, M.D. and all the caring health care professionals involved in his treatment.
