Martha Virginia Oliver Griffin, 91, of Fountain Hill, died Wednesday, May
7, 2014 at her home. She was born on July 11, 1922, to Cora Denson
Oliver and John Robbie Oliver on a gravel road north of Fountain
Hill. She always wanted to be at her home in south Arkansas and was
an avid gardener until a few years ago. Reading was her second
hobby. She was a faithful member of the Hamburg Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Carl Griffin in 1991, in
addition to her parents, a brother, Bobby Oliver who was killed in the
Philippines in World War II, a daughter-in-law, Anita Lewis Griffin and a
niece, Jenny McGraw.
She is survived by three daughters, Martha Griffin Bush and husband,
Tommy, of Romance, Susan Marie Griffin and Lisa Kay Griffin both of
Flint, Michigan; two sons, John Carl Griffin and wife, Sherry, of
Alexander, and Oliver Thomas Griffin and wife, Mignon, of Fountain Hill;
a sister, Marie Oliver Ross and husband, Virgil, of Sylmar, California;
four grandsons; Blake Scott Griffin of Fountain Hill, Lance Aaron Griffin
and wife, Michelle, of Crossett, Thomas Glenn Bush of Little Rock, Jason
Glen Griffin of Lake Jackson, Texas, one granddaughter, Sarah
Elizabeth Griffin of Searcy, and one great grandchild, Landri Belle Griffin
of Crossett, whom she adored. She is also survived by multiple nieces,
nephews and cousins who all dearly loved sweet Aunt Virginia.
Funeral services are 2 p.m., Saturday, May 10, 2014 at the JonesHartshorn Funeral Home Chapel with Joe Sponaugle and Joe Shairrick
officiating. Burial will be in the Flat Creek Cemetery. Pallbearers will be:
Richard Robertson, Kenny McDaniel, Bobby Griffin, Lance Griffin, Glenn
Bush and Jason Griffin. Memorials may be sent to Children's Homes, Inc,
5515 Walcott Road, Paragould, AR 72450
