Peggie M. Bates, 82, of El Dorado, AR, died on Monday, September 12, 2016 at Life Touch Hospice.
Born on January 25, 1934 in El Dorado, AR; she was the daughter of Henry Clyde Bates and Nettie Leconia Stocks Bates. Peggie was a lifelong member of Philadelphia Baptist Church. She worked as secretary for McMillian Oil Corporation.
Peggie was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Dewey Bates, Elmer Bates, and Fred Bates, her sisters Susie Mc Leod, Dorothy Sinclair, Faye Heer and Orean McGough, a beloved niece Barbara Bowles; nephews, Charles Ray McLeod, Doneas McLeod, Michael Sinclair and Keith Bates.
Survivors are her nieces and nephews J.C. (El Dain) Bates, Dan Bates, Carol (Frank) Jenkins, Mary (David) Harbour, Alice (Rickey) Sorrells, Fred “Butch’ (Annette) Bates Jr., Karen (Gale) Medlin, Elizabeth Ann (Fred) Budzourski, William David Heer, Carl Lewis Heer, Joseph Alan Heer, Gwen Edward Mc Leod (Bonnie) and Jerry O’Dell McLeod (Bonnie) and special friends, Bobbie Wilson, Wilda Martin and Maxine Sinclair.
Special thanks to the staff of the Hospice House, the sitters and volunteers, churches who prepared meals for the family and friends of the patients, Dr. Callaway, the “Girls” at Brenda’s, Bubba Sorrells, Troy Alphin, Joy Pugh and all those who called and visited Aunt Peggie.
Funeral Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, September 15, 2016 at Philadelphia Baptist Church with Rev. Gary Hill officiating. Interment will follow at Philadelphia Baptist Church Cemetery by Young’s Funeral Directors. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service at the church.
