Shirley Eldridge, age 85, of Hot Springs, passed away Monday, September 16, 2013. She was born on October 14, 1927, in Moberly, Missouri, the daughter of Leslie Morton Snider and Della Mae Bigelow Snider. On July 1, 1951, she was married to Robert Eldridge. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her sister, Janis Yaegar. Serving her church for most of her life, Shirley was an Elder in three different churches, became a lifetime member of the Presbyterian Women, and served as the Moderator of the Presbyterian Women Association for the State of Arkansas for two years. At the time of her death she was a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Hot Springs. She received a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology from Arkansas College in Batesville, now known as Lyon College, and worked as an executive secretary for a national company until the birth of her son, when she began her most rewarding job as a devoted stay at home mother and wife. She was an avid bridge player and enjoyed golfing. Shirley dearly loved her family and she will be deeply missed by all who had the wonderful privilege of knowing and loving her. She is survived by her loving husband, Bob Eldridge of Hot Springs; her son, Dr. Bruce Eldridge and his wife, Kathlene, of Austin, Texas; two grandchildren, Catlin Eldridge of Ann Arbor, Michigan and Meghan Eldridge of Columbia, Missouri; her nephews and other extended family members; and a host of wonderful friends. A private family graveside service was held in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Rev. Bud Hearn officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Hot Springs.
